Dr. Tajinder (Taj) Uppal Dhariwal is a registered clinical and school psychologist with over a decade of experience providing evidence-based assessment and therapy for children, teens, and families across Ontario.
Dr. Uppal Dhariwal is passionate about supporting youth ages 4–18 and their parents and caregivers through a compassionate, collaborative, and strengths-based approach. She helps families navigate emotional, behavioural, and learning challenges with tools that build confidence, connection, and resilience.
She is certified as an Advanced Therapist, Supervisor, Trainer, and Caregiver Workshop Facilitator in Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and has specialized expertise in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Her treatment approach integrates these evidence-based models to meet each family’s unique needs.
Dr. Uppal Dhariwal is a sought-after speaker and trainer, having developed and delivered EFFT and ACT workshops for hospital, school board, and community organizations.
She completed her Ph.D. in School and Clinical Psychology at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, and her predoctoral residency at McMaster Children’s Hospital, where she continues to provide clinical services. She also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University.
Dr. Uppal Dhariwal’s experience spans hospital, school, and private practice settings, including McMaster Children’s Hospital, Mississauga Hospital (Trillium Health Partners), the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and the Toronto District School Board.
